At the July 2006 presentation of the International Scouting Course at the Philmont Training Center, staff and students
sought a solution to the following problem. How can International Committee Members and Council
Representatives increase the general Scouting community's awareness
of International Scouting activities? Perhaps if Scouter and Scouts were able to identify how many of
us there are participating in these activities.
Maybe if they were able to observe that we each think
it is important enough that we visibly advertise our participation. And so the recommendation was made that we
begin to wear patches that welcome others to ask, "What's that International patch all about"? Orange
County Council has developed three patches to serve this need. Appropriately, they are designed predominately
in purple and silver, matching the International Scouting Emblem. More information about these
patches may be obtained by contacting the OCBSA
